Rabbit Residence and Food Management

Residence:
Rabbit can be rear commercially in a polyhedral cage. Rabbit can be observed in rural areas too. When it give birth it make hole underneath and put off tear of its own body. When it is observed in case then maternity box or net is used.
Adult Rabbit case size:          length – 75 cm. width – 45 cm. and height – 35 cm.
Maternity box size:                length – 40 cm. width – 30 cm. and height – 25 cm.

Food Management:
Food consumption and nutrient varies according to age and breeds. An old rabbit food nutrient requirements – crude protein 17 – 18 %, fiber 14%, mineral 7% and metabolic energy 700 kilo calories/kg.
Food Consumption:
Growing rabbit >>     90 gm/day
Adult rabbit      >>     130 – 145 gm/day
Milch rabbit      >>    250 – 300 gm/day

Food Components:
Vegetables: seasonal based vegetables, leaves, carrot, radish, green grass.
Granule Food: rice, wheat, maize, oilseed etc. However, for commercial use Broiler Poultry blended feed can be used as ration of rabbit.
