Procedures of Increasing Milk Production

The amount and quality of milk production of cows depends on species. The amount of cow milk and components – such as butter, protein, minerals varies of its species. Butter or cream in milk of Sindhi, Sahiwal, Hariana is more than other breeds like Holstein, Friesian, Jersey etc. But Holstein, Friesian, Jersey are highly milk productive breeds.
Food has important influence on milk production and its quality. We can get more milk if we give them more food. But the food must be balanced. If we do not provide them sufficient balanced diet the amount of milk production will reduce ominously and also milk quality and low food creamy milk may be more. Various food components emit in a different state through milk. The cow gives less creamy milk for the following types of food –
  1. Excessive granule food,
  2. Pilet food,
  3. Excessive savory food,
  4. Feeding straw powder.

If milk cream reduces we need to feed them necessary balanced diet. The amount of minerals and vitamins in milk can be increase through proper food. If we do not give them balanced diet then we get a little amount of protein and starch in milk. And milk production can be reduced. Milking time, milking period and milking process etc. can effect on amount of milk and its quality. The milk amount gradually increases within first 50 days. The components and amount of milk depends on pressure on teats of milk also. Milk butter and protein increases partially after 90 days of lactation period. We found more butter in milk if we milk in short interval. So milk in afternoon contains more cream than morning milk. So we should milk 2 – 3 times in 24 hours that increases milk production.

Good health in delivery period is important for expected milk production. At the pregnancy period the cow needs balanced diet and proper care in order to get more milk. The milking must be closed before two months of delivery. We get more milk from frontal teats than backward teats. We should care of teats. Health management, housing is greatly responsible for milk production and its quality. Environment should be comfortable for the cows. If we do not be careful in milking then the milk amount and quality may decreases.

Adverse weather is harmful for milk production. Winter season is comfortable for milking cows. In this season milk production and butter quality increases. The milk production and quality decreases in summer, rain and wet weather. In summer if we keep the cow in cold environment then milk production can not damage. During breeding period milk production can be reduced.

Childbirth in long interval milk production increases. And childbirth in short interval may reduce the milk production. So breeding of cows should not be at any coast less than 60 days. They should breed in 60 – 90 days. Water in cow body is 50% and in milk is 87%. So if we drink them much water then we can get much milk and butter.
